Appointed by Wilson Bowden and Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire to produce a new masterplan for the strategically important ex-steelworks site. Worked in close collaboration with RTKL (Town Centre Retail) and a number of key advisors.
Participation in viability analysis and comprehensive assessment of preceding studies.
Analysis of the 450 hectare site. Consideration of development potential and accommodation of emerging government guidance on densification of Brownfield development and co–location of retail and leisure functions with community core. |

Analysis of site constraints, including 250 hectares of concrete slab, 27 kilometres of underground tunnels and a range of environmental and access constraints.
Accommodation of 3,500 residential units, 100,000m² of retail and leisure and 250,000m² of employment uses with a full range of schools, amenities and supporting functions.
Creation of a sustainable access strategy, involving both heavy rail and bus based solutions.
Production of detailed public realm design guidelines.
Delivery of a masterplan which has now achieved planning consent |
