A set of urban design proposals for Ask Developments in collaboration with Manchester City Council focused on a key urban quarter due south of Manchester city centre.
The area is highly accessible by public transport and serves as the Southern ‘Gateway’ approach to the city from the airport and the south.
The study brief called for close examination of development pressures particularly for residential accommodation, against the city’s core need for new high density employment and educational facilities.
Accommodation of existing initiatives including the Mackintosh Village and University Quarter.

Creation of a dynamic set of development options, driven by ownerships, proximity to public transport and demand
Creation of sustainable movement concepts coupled with robust public realm.
